After School Program

After School Program

Helping Students to reach their potential
The after-school program is a FREE program, open to Sandusky children in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Doors open daily at 3:00pm, and dinner is served at 5:30pm. Each day begins with homework help and a healthy snack, followed by open gym. From there, children participate in interest-based clubs that encourage them to grow and learn mentally, physically, and spiritually.

The gym is open for children who, after completing their homework, choose to spend their time in cooperative games like basketball and kickball, or individual activities like jump rope and hula-hoop.

Computer Lab

The computer lab is equipped with 13 desktop computers, in addition to a variety of gaming options. Children who have online homework are able to complete it here with the assistance of volunteers.

Nehemiah. partners knows academic success begins with strong reading skills. Student spend time in our library everyday; reading to the themselves, being read to, and reading to others.

Children participate in science, technology, engineering, art, math games and projects. Hands-on learning helps the students to achieve success in each of these areas.

Summer Program

Fun in the Sun
The Summer Program occurs June-August, providing a safe space for our children to play, learn, and grow.

The summer begins with week-long theme camps, like Olympics, Water Week, and Music Camp. This time is followed by a few weeks of open gym, focused on mentorship. The summer ends with Kindergarten Bootcamp to help our younger children prepare for their first week of school. .

Finally, to help close the learning gap caused by COVID-19, tutoring sessions are available for children currently in Nehemiah's programs.
Food Programs

Food Programs

Kids cafe and Snack Bags
The Kids Cafe, in partnership with The Second Harvest Food Bank, provides a balanced meal, (meats, dairy, breads, fruits, vegetables) everyday. A healthy snack is provided right after school. Meals are prepared by teams of volunteers from local churches and businesses.

Snack bags are handed out on Thursday evenings. The goal is to reduce food insecurity through the weekend.

Community Garden
Each summer, Nehemiah Partners runs the “Community Garden Project”. This program is in partnership with Hope for Futures, OHgo, and the Erie County Foundation, providing fresh produce to our neighbors in Erie County.

Children and community members are invited to help plant the vegetables at the spring and harvest throughout the summer and fall.
